Badminton Club’s new season well underway

Kilcullen had a total of three team’s out and about this week with yet another team making their first debut of the new season, writes Tara O'Neill. That team was Lynsey Walsh’s and her Grade 1 ladies of Lynsey, Gillian, Sinead and Tara. Lynsey and Gillian showed a promising start to the night in the First Ladies, bringing a strong Portarlington partnership to three sets, but were unlucky to lose the game in the third set. It wasn’t to be the Kilcullen ladies night as Portarlington went on to win overall.

Also looking promising that night were Vincent’s Grade 3 Men’s team who had a return fixture against Kildare to play, this time on home territory. Following their frustrating defeat to said team last week, Vincent and his men were determined to get revenge and come away with a win. The men certainly proved just how much they wanted to win in some very close fought games (of which included some three-setters and even a thirty-pointer!) but were very unlucky to come out on the wrong end of the scoreboard, also suffering a defeat.

It seems Thursday was the night for matches, as a third match was also played some couple of miles away in Portarlington, as Mick Cass’ Grade 2 Mens team travelled to Port. Mick and his men were determined not to walk away empty-handed and came away with a very respectable 2-2 draw.

Well done to all those who played games last week and best of luck to those teams who have matches this week!
